Delmarva Crossroads Feature Article

The new weekly free paper Delmarva Crossroads decided to feature me in the fifth issue. Thanks for the love and thank you for supporting local music!

Here is the full text of the article:

Pete Bozick is a busy man. Between his solo work and involvement with various projects, Bozick has his hands in several pots.

A talented and versatile musician, Bozick is a founding member of The Larks, a four-piece instrumental jazz and funk band that has been active for almost 10 years. In 2006, Bozick and friends Ryan Jackson, Sean Miller and Charlie Greenhaugh formed The Permilla Project, which Bozick calls, “a classic rock/jam band that covers just about anything from blues to country, pop to R&B, reggae and lots of original music.” Bozick is also the “PB” in the acoustic duo PB&J, with fellow singer/guitarist Josh Pryor, and he performs with the Pam Miller Band, a regional jazz collective. In addition to his hectic schedule, Bozick devotes time each Sunday to the worship team at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church. When Bozick goes solo, he uses “a drum machine, guitar synthesizer and a loop station to create the sound of a full band, layer by layer, using only my guitar. I’ve really been having a lot of fun exploring new ground with this one.”
Bozick’s musical influences span multiple genres and styles.

“Just about anything can be a musical influence for me,” he said. “I listen to all types of music. My biggest influences stylistically are jazz, classic rock, and funk, specifically Pat Metheny, The Grateful Dead, and most of what comes out of New Orleans. Just give me something with a good groove and good improvisation and I’m happy. I’m also heavily influenced by the other musicians I know and those I have played with.”

Although originally from Maine, Bozick has lived on the Eastern Shore most of his life. “I moved to Salisbury when I was about six months old and grew up here,” he said. “I have traveled a bit and lived a few other places, but now I have settled back here to raise a family.” Bozick lives in Salisbury with his wife Kelly and daughter Dana. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, cooking, travelling and camping.

Bozick’s musical journey started in elementary school playing the alto saxophone. He has dabbled in other instruments over the years, but his main focus is guitar, which he began playing at age 15. He continued his musical education at Boston College, where he earned a B.A. in Music with a concentration in music theory and history. He now shares his love and knowledge of his craft with others as an instructor, offering private guitar and music theory lessons.
